Afros, Cosplay, and More Downtown Street Style Snaps from NYC's Spring Street

After a great deal of people-watching, we've come to the conclusion that some of the most popular hairstyles this summer include afros (which certainly provide one with a sense of strength and femininity), as well as vibrant, dramatic colors, on all hair styles, lengths, and textures, from flaming neon orange with a mullet cut to a full head of purple locks.

Take a look at some photos we shot that depict these trends, and perhaps you will gather up some courage to dye your hair to that gorgeous shade of green you've been dreaming about for months!

  • Afros

Afros are everywhere, and we can only guess that a major cause of this trend is due to the hairstyle's versatility. Whether your find yourself wearing camo tees and motorcycle boots or maxi dresses and heels, an afro adds so much extra power and oomph to an otherwise simple outfit.

  • Dip-Dyed

One of the most popular beauty trends of the season, dip-dyed hairstyles have been spotted in every hue, from blonde under brown to blue over green. While these friends opted for a more natural color palette, the result is still funky and fresh, and is the perfect hairstyle to go along with a pair of creepers.

  • Hats Off

Some straight amber locks topped with a straw fedora is a great way to achieve a sleek city look (and a cover for those small and sudden rain showers!) Additionally, a yellow top and cheetah print belt adds a ray of sunshine to an otherwise stormy day in the city.

  • Red Hair

We like how nonchalant this kid looks, slouched over near the subway station in a basic red hoodie and hair to match. Very classic New York.

  • Lolitas

One of the beautiful things about the city is that, on occasion, you feel like you have been whisked away to another part of the world. So was the case today when we discovered this lovely pair of cosplay girls...one minute we were walking down 14th, and the next we found ourselves in the middle of Tokyo!

  • Blue Hair

Spotted on Spring Street, we love the quiet confidence this girl exudes in her cheetah print dress, knee high socks, creepers and an electric blue hairstyle.

  • Skull Sweater

Okay, so admittedly it's probably the skull sweater that we find eye-catching in this photo, but we also adore this girl's beautiful bangs as well!

  • Bleachin' It

One of the most popular looks among viewers, we can't stop raving about how insanely beautiful this girl's hair and brows look after dying them a piercing white.
