What Kate Middleton wore to the Olympics 2012 day seven: a Team GB tracksuit top

KATE MIDDLETON

The Duchess of Cambridge has been busy supporting Team GB today, attending the athletics this morning and the Hockey this afternoon. She's also scheduled to watch the swimming this evening - then we imagine it will be an early night! And what better way for a member of the royal family to blend in with the crowd at the Olympics 2012 than by wearing a trackie? Unfortunately for Kate, she may be sporting Adidas, but there's no mistaking that glossy mane and gleaming white smile.

As well as watching heptathlete Jessica Enis compete in the Olympic Stadium this morning, the DoC was spotted chatting to fomer Olympic champion Sally Gunnell. She then travelled to the Riverbank Arena Hockey Centre to cheer on Great Britain Men's hockey team as they played Pakistan.

KATE MIDDLETON

Kate caused a Twitter frenzy following a rare PDA with her husband Prince William at the Velodrome yesterday. The pair embraced in front of the crowds in celebration of cyclist Chris Hoy's fifth Olympic gold medal. We have to admit the smile on Kate's face as William reaches in for a hug turns us to mush. What a cute couple!

HATWALK: The Praise! The Sneering! The Stealing!

It’s all anyone has been talking about all week and it’s dominated the news in all media. No, not the Olympics, silly - HATWALK!

Commissioned by the Mayor of London, in partnership with BT, the British Fashion Council, the London 2012 Festival, and *coughs modestly* Grazia magazine… Hatwalk saw 21 hats by the best of UK milliners displayed on iconic statues across the capital.

The Evening Standard redubbed the sculptures ‘sta-hat-tues’ and called the project ‘a dual celebration of the capital’s heritage and its world-beating milliners’.

In fact, the millinery theme offered many, many opportunities for unforgivable pun s, from the Metro’s standard-issue ‘Hat’s Amazing!’ to our very own Major himself declaring ‘you’ve got to take your hats off to London…. Our city is a melting pot of creativity.’ (and let’s not forget that once the hats will be auctioned off to raise money for the Mayor's Fund for good causes).

‘How spectacular!’ was global blog god Perez Hilton’s nod of approval on his Coco Perez fashion site declaring Hatwalk ‘a great way to raise money and display wonderful works of art on iconic figures’.

Following the Hatwalk trail quickly became the fashion pilgrimage for the capital’s stylistas...

‏@RevivalRetro We are loving HATWALK

@oohladeda No money to take my woes away with sho pping so doing the next best (even better??) thing: the London #Hatwalk

And even our visitors from abroad were digging our sense of humour…

@annie5859 You've got to love British eccentricity! #hatwalk

Although some were a little slower off the mark….

@eevilmidget Oh. I guess those hats on statues are real. I thought they were photoshopped.

Erm, yes.

But before long the praise was replaced by the drama, with the HuffPo the first to report that our project had gone ‘awry when two of the hats placed on London statues went missing - with one being stolen and another "disabled" by a Westminster council street warden’.

Grazia promptly issued a Hat Amnesty for the missing stolen hat; a vast bunny eared baseball cap by Bernstock Speirs (above) stolen from the statue of Williams Shakespeare in Leicester Square. #bringthebunnyback ! [update: the bunny cap remains M.I.A.]

Admittedly not everyone was quite so charmed by our fabulous initiative.

Last-time Olympic hosts Australia just didn’t get it. Fashion philistines News.com.au asked ‘Is this someone's idea of a joke?’ and observing ‘It seems no one is immune to Olympic fever in London, not even those made of stone’. However it did note that Hatwalk ‘gave the poor statues a chance to swap pigeon poo for fancy couture’.

Well, quite.

But for our true fans, Hatwalk was a hit: including @GeorgieMHobbs , who marvelled ‘The London Hatwalk is like a mad PR idea we'd get laughed at for suggesting - but actually is awesome.’

It really was.

Thanks to everyone w ho helped organise the initiative, the magnificent milliners, and to all those Hatwalkers that took the time to stroll around Londontown and admire those beautiful hats.

And don’t forget, you can bid for your favourite hats with all proceeds going to the Mayor’s Fund for good causes. Watch this space for details of the auction! And that missing bunny cap...

Antony and the Johnsons Curate Meltdown!

The wonderful Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons fame (above) is curating this year’s Meltdown, a line-up of 12 days of music, debate and performance. It’s certainly an eclectic list – as Antony puts it, “mainly ecstatic female voices with a few queens thrown in” and features amongst others, Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson, Liz Frazer, Joey Arias and Hercules and Love Affair.

Grazia was lucky enough to attend one of the opening concerts, a performance by Diamanda Galas – Antony describes her as 'the Maria Callas of art music'. Grazia likens it to an aural battering, but in a good way - ferocious mesmerizing vocals over her exuberant piano playing. Often sounding like she is singing in two voices at the same time – a husky baritone and a pie rcing soprano – she had the cool rather gothic crowd, led by an exuberant Pam Hogg, up on their feet chanting for more. Very Exorcist, it has to be said.

Tickets are still available for some upcoming shows – New York performance artist Laurie Anderson, Liz Fraser of the Cocteau Twins on stage for the first time in many years, Joey Arias performing his own man Billie Holiday Strange Fruit tribute, and a disco night to end all disco nights with Antony joining Hercules and Love Affair on stage. Grazia is beside itself at the prospect of hearing them sing Blind live…

WOW! Zara's New Jewellery Collection!

There was a mad dash at lunch time today by Grazia staffers when we posted these images of the new Zara jewellery collection on instragram. That’s right, high street heros Zara are taking on jewellery, whatever next! We couldn't quite believe our tran-seasonal eyes when from the sale-packed store of Summer leftovers, like a ray of light, their new jewellery designs emerged like a glimmer of hope and blinded us with some serious bling.

Rocks similar to something the late Elizabeth Taylor would adore, the jumbo jewels really are as jumbo as they look in the pictures. Perfect for transforming any beaten up old T-shirt or g oing head to head with the most printed thing you own. We love the finishes, the crystals maybe super sparkly but placed on a gunmetal finish, they are much more rock'n'roll than at first look. Just check out the studs, fluro and natural shelled pieces to see the raw edge.

You may ask the same question as we did, where did these come from? Why has Zara not done jewellery before? Well its a new focus for them so be sure to stay tunned as we expect a lot more tantalising jewellery pieces coming to a highstreet near you very very soon. To shop and see the collection click here.

Everyone's Wearing Carven! Rihanna, Beyonce & Victoria Beckham Go Crazy For The Super Cool French Label!

Everyone's Wearing Carven! Rihanna, Beyonce & Victoria Beckham Go Crazy For The Super Cool French Label! | Grazia Fashion

Bonjour! Now, what’s all this chicness that’s been dressing Hollywood’s finest, and our other favourite stars on the other side of the pond? Why it’s Carven of course! We recognise those cool prints and sexy silhouettes from a hundred passes!
Over at Grazia HQ we’ve been rather Carven crazy for a while now, in fact it’s always one of our favourite presentations at Paris Fashion Week because not only is it gorgeous and wonderfully unique- take a closer look at their perfectly cut, preppy shirt collars and impeccable, jutting out skater skirts- But it’s super wearable too!

So is it any wonder Carven has become the A-list favourite of the summer? We think not! Their head turning prints in easy to wear silhouettes- enter Rihanna and Beyonce’s zig-zag blouse and Katy Perry’s map frock- are ideal for making an entrance with minimum effort, and we love Carven’s sexy bandage style d resses and tops for easy evening elegance.

It’s Guillaume Henry, currently at the French fashion house’s helm, to thank for Carven’s sterling collections; he’s the man responsible for its incarnation, which took off in 2009 when the label burst back onto the fashion scene.

In fact his ultra modern aesthetic makes it hard to believe this hip, exciting label harps back to the mid-forties, but it was then that French couturier Madame Carmen de Tommaso opened Carven’s doors, dressing the hottest film stars, and royals of the era. Now, the 21st Century Carven’s ever growing ready-to-wear and accessories collections have been embraced once again by both the fashion world and Hollywood alike… So what’s next? Some 2012 royal dressing perhaps? …Well we for one would love to see Kate Middleton in Carven’s signature bow sling-backs!

Kate Middleton cheers on Andy Murray wearing her blue Stella McCartney dress at the Olympics 2012

KATE MIDDLETON

Another day, another Olympics 2012 event for the DoC. And she remains the reigning Queen of Fashion Recycling. Kate is cheering on Andy Murray at the Men's Singles tennis quarter final with her husband Prince William this afternoon and she's wearing the Stella McCartney vibrant blue dress she wore to the National Portrait Gallery last month. Her Smythe blazer with gold buttons has received its third outing this week, as Kate simplifies her wardrobe so as not to distract from the athletic achievements.

PRADA'S AUTUMN/WINTER 2012 COLLECTION: The Movie!

Of course by now you'll know that Prada's Autumn/Winter 2012 collection was one of the highlights of next season. We loved everything about it from the crazy shoes, the beautiful flower studded doctors bags, the diamond patterned trouser suits, jumbo jewels and the two toned hair. Love love love.

And now Prada have released their latest short film/ad campaign, featuring models Anne Vyalitsyna, Elza Luijendijk, Iselin Steiro, Madison Headrick, Magdalena Frockwiak and Vanessa Axente locked in an intense game of arty chess and an even more intense fashion-off. Or as the luxury fashion house itself put it….

'Set in a virtual game-space, two powerful opponents face one another across a fantastical chess game.

The movement of each chess piece results in a parallel movement in an alternate reality.

As the g ame builds to a crescendo, each movement on the board has increasingly extraordinary repercussions'

Who wins? You decide...

(PS why can't THIS be a sport in the Olympics, hmm?)
